Pic by ALON SKUYA damn earthquake has hit Haiti twice in a week. The place is a mess and the survivors are starving and desperate and then you shoot at them!!!??
Everytime you swich on the television to watch the News or listen to radio, the Haiti tragedy is being addressed as the journos there reveal such harrowing storiesd that you are left wondering if they will ever forget what they see, if they will ever recover from the trauma. America has sent thousands of troops to assist the people, but why is the situation only getting dire and worse?
The survivors are hungry, thirsty and heavily in need of medical supplies and attention BUT everything is taking long getting to them. The journos report of desperate faces seeing trucks drive past them without any information on where the help is. These people have no choice but to fend for themselves. Somewhere in the rubble, where some people still wait to be rescued - a week later - there are some shops which still have food, water and supplies that can offer some relief. SO, the survivors reach inand take some pasta, water and whatever is neccessary for the simple human basic needs - hunger and thirst!
What happens!? they get shot at by the police! WTF? What law-enforcement is needed when people need assistance. I completely understand that there always needs to be some law-enforcement but is it absolutely neccessary to shoot at someone taking pasta in a Natural disaster like what Haiti is facing?
What exactly are they securing? Rubble with food in it and survivors are starving! What goes through your mind as you pull the trigger? What if the person you are shooting is actually related to the owner of that store and requires help? Who has money in that desperate situation to buy food? from where? Who is stupid to manage a store at this point in that horrid situation?
PEOPLE THINK!!!! Those people need help! and if they can help themselves - why shoot at them? That food is perishables! Should it go to waste and go off? The situatin in haiti is too desperate to consider what the survivors are doing looting! Can we even consider what they are doing looting?! For me, it is just not possible to consider the desperation of the people as llooting and unruly behaviour!! Some have not eaten or drank a sip of water in 8 days, and a second earthquake just hit the place yesterday!
Check The Times front-page today! Did that girl have to die? Was it absolutely neccessary for her to lose her life for taking food? After she survived 2 horrible earthquakes??!!! Why? such cruelty!!
